You know those guys who operate heavy equipment to move all that land, cut down the trees, pull up the roots and smooth out the land so that electrical cable and pipes for water and sewage can be laid in the ground to establish a foundation?
How many black guys do you see doing that type of work?
Oh, you may have thought you saw one, but really, how many have you seen?
If you saw one, it was probably the only one. He represents all the black men who have that job. Let’s put him on TV and show him A LOT. The more people see him, the more the stereotype becomes ingrained.
That one black guy represents MANY black guys because you see him all the time. Society doesn’t even know or care about the selection process to get that one black guy to be the representation of black people.
No disrespect to the one chosen.
Let’s have dozens more of him …and her.
